Starting to think about your wedding plans for 2020? Don’t know where to start? Don’t get stuck in a state of panic. Between figuring out and sticking to your budgets, choosing the picturesque colors, tasting all the cakes and picking the perfect dress, planning your wedding can really knock you out. 29 West has some tips and tricks to ensure your success.

Maybe you have a color scheme but aren't sure the best way to show off your wedding colors. You may want something bold and bright, or subtle and chic. Or do you have the wedding of your dreams all planned out and you’re ready to iron out final details? Wherever you fall on the wedding-planning scale, the first tip we have for you is to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

It is easy to become bogged down with all of the decisions that need to be made, give yourself a minute to breathe. Do this daily! Take a walk. Watch your favorite TV show. Have a doughnut. Take a nap. Plan a little me time every day, to make sure you can stay present and enjoy the process, as much as you can.

Once you have taken care of yourself, you are ready to tackle wedding planning by hitting up a local bridal fair! Bridal fairs can be a good place to start planning or a good place to iron out final details. They are saturated with vendors and experts so you can learn about all your different options in one place. You will be able to see options for food, tablecloths, flowers, cakes, DJ’s, photo booths, dresses and so much more!

Here are 29 West's 10 tips to navigating any Bridal Fair and planning the wedding of your dreams:

  1. Walk-in with a Game Plan

Bridal Fairs can seem daunting but having a game plan to map out what you need to get done will save you time and stress. Here's what you need to do to form your game plan:

  • Ask yourself:
    • What do I still need? (cake, colors, tablecloths, food, tables, tents, dress, photographers, etc)
    • What is my budget?
  • Look at the vendors listed on the Bridal Fair's website and make note of the ones that you want to take a closer look at based on your answers. Head to these ones first. The rest are just fun bonuses to visit!
  1. Bring a Bag

You will need one to keep track of all the brochures or handouts you’ll be receiving: they’ll come in handy when trying to remember who you talked to and what you did or did not like about them.

  1. Compare Prices

Bring a notebook or a planner so you can write down specific pricing for each vendor to be sure you are getting the best deal!

  1. Bring $$

Some companies will offer better discounts at the fair and you could save a fortune just by coming prepared to finalize some details

  1. Bring Your Squad

Weddings are a team effort! Bring a friend, your mom, or your fiancé. Having someone there to bounce ideas off of and help create your vision will be invaluable.

  1. Ask Questions

Write down any questions you may have for vendors and keep them handy so you can get all the information you need. Here are a few examples:

    • What is your minimum order?
    • What kind of packages do you offer?
    • How long before my event do I need to order my items?
    • Do you offer payment plans?
    • What are your pickup/delivery fees?
    • Where can I get a sample of your product, or come test out your product?
    • How do I place my order?
  1. Follow All the Vendors on Social Media

Most vendors will have ongoing promotions throughout the year on Facebook or Instagram that you could utilize after you’ve had time to make all of your decisions.

  1. Take Lots of Photos and Notes

It is easy to get overwhelmed with all of the things you will see or taste. Having notes and photos to check back on will make sorting through all of the information at the end of the day a whole lot easier

  1. Enter All of the Giveaways

One of the best parts of bridal fairs (besides the food samples) are the giveaways! Sign up for everything. There has to be a winner, why couldn't it be you?!

  1. Have Fun!

Most importantly, HAVE FUN! You get to marry the love of your life! 😍 Enjoy the process and plan the wedding of your dreams.

Now that you have all the tips and tricks, it's time to sign up for a Bridal Fair! For those of you locals right here in the Austin, TX area there are TWO Bridal Fairs happening in January!  Kiesling Ranch Open House on January 19th and the Georgetown Bridal Show on January 26th.
